I was watching Manny Pacquiao vs.
Mosley Fight last march 7, 2011 while preparing our meal for celebration
to my mom special day “Mother’s Day”. First on the stage, the singing sensation
Charice Pempengco from Philippines
sung Lupang Hinirang" (Philippine national anthem). During the Pacquiao-Mosley
match in Las Vegas, Nevada
on Saturday (Sunday in Manila).
I was shocked because this girl
sung very well; but on other side; I’ve noticed that her outfit that she be
dressed in is not a Filipina Dress (National Dress of the Philippines).so I’m
very disappointed to her as a Pilipino who idolize her singing talent but more
than that her attitude to turn out to be a Pilipino Pride.
NHCP (National Historical Commission of the Philippines ) director said:
“I had no doubt that she will do
it properly, the singing of the national anthem. And last Sunday, we all saw
it, we all heard it. She sang perfectly," NHCP executive director Ludovico Badoy said in an
interview with GMA News’ “24 Oras." He also added that the NHCP
will send Charice a commendation letter for her rendition of the “Lupang
Hinirang," which the commission set apart from the performances by other
Filipino singers during Pacquiao’s other matches.
Based on my observation, I have no question about her
performances during Pacquiao-Mosley fight last march 2011. And, she made all
the Filipinos proud of her.but where’s the Nationalism? Oh! My God! Where is it
again? The Dress she dresses in? I doubt it….and all the previous singers who
sung very well? Mr. NHCP Director?am I right?
I HAVE SOMETHING SMELL ?... Maybe, it's a plus factor for Charice since
her name resounds than the rest.
